About Michael Carpenter
Michael Carpenter is the CEO of the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC). He has a long history of working in regulation and accreditation in both Australia and the UK. In addition to his current role, he has held roles in the regulation and accreditation of various professions including dentists and engineers as well as for the Australian government’s higher education regulator. Originally an engineer by training he is now a self-confessed regulation expert.

The Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) is part of the regulatory framework for healthcare practitioners in Australia. It is an independent quality and standards organisation, appointed as an external accreditation entity for the Psychology Profession in Australia under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009. After nurses and doctors, psychologists are the largest group of regulated health professionals in Australia and APAC is responsible for setting the standards for training across some 650 higher education programs in Australia and parts of South East Asia.
